About me

I’m Natasha, the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto Ontario.  IPAC has been the forefront of my career interests for 20 years, beginning in Public Health and extending to an academic Quaternary Acute Care Setting.

Fueled by a desire to understand the application of IPAC in diverse healthcare and community settings, my experiences cross local and provincial Public Health; Acute, Long Term and Rehabilitation care settings. In all areas, I’ve worked in front-line and leadership positions.  Collectively, these have helped me build a solid foundation in healthcare that focuses on optimizing partnerships that advance patient safety.

As a self-proclaimed outbreak chaser, I understand that the dynamics that lead to an outbreak can be complex.  Several contributing factors, some unique to the outbreak, can be discovered when preforming an in-depth analysis.  Learning from these experiences, tailored improvements can be made to prevent future recurrence and improve patient outcomes.

Key interests and experiences include IPAC surveillance, construction and renovation, environmental cleaning and disinfection, sterilization, effective outbreak response and recovery, planning for novel/emerging diseases and supporting a mobile emergency medical response team for the Province of Ontario.  I enjoy working with partners to creatively but safely work through any IPAC challenge.

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Health Studies at Athabasca University.  All views expressed are my own and do not reflect the views of my employer.
